Catching Up with Council – Summer Update
Dear Faith Members and Friends,
Your Church Council has not met officially since May due to several different needs that came up. We wanted you to know that we have not taken the summer off, but have met via "email" as needed, and will meet again in person on Tuesday, August 10.
In May, the Council voted to move ahead with the Synod program, Liberating Structures, which will provide the opportunity for a leadership team to explore where we are as a congregation with our goals, spiritual practices, mission/vision/values, and our organizational structures. In place of our June Council meeting, all council members who were available joined in a 3 hour introductory session around this project. Pastor John was not able to be part of that session due to his time in South Carolina. However, he has met and talked with the main facilitator, and will be sharing more information soon.
The Council was to have met on July 13, 2021, but summer vacations were calling people away, so business was conducted via email. The Council voted to approve the budget amendment that will be discussed during the Sunday, July 18, worship service announcements. Council is grateful to our business administrator, Joyce Getchell and the Finance committee for their diligence in staying on top of the ongoing budget. This budget amendment will also be available digitally to all members in the near future.
The Council celebrates the generosity and continued support of this faithful and faith-filled congregation! We celebrate Pastor John's safe return from his National Guard Training, the ramp-up of Faith Feeds Our Neighbor (see the e-news announcement), the success of the Boundary Waters Canoe Trip and Summer Sunday School, the return of senior fellowship and bible study activities, and the open doors on Sunday morning at both 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services.
